About Poppy and Banjo

Poppy and Banjo have been together throughout their lives and are best friends. Poppy is the boss of the pair and was more inclined to pinch Banjo’s food when they were younger, but their relationship has become much more relaxed as they have matured. They are happy to head off independently for a mooch during the day, but naps, sunbathing and settling down for the night are very much shared activities.

Both girls are friendly, playful and intelligent, and enjoy meeting new people. These days they are fairly laid back and spend plenty of time napping and relaxing, although they still enjoy exploring their surroundings and are enthusiastic rooters.

Human Interaction and Handling

Poppy and Banjo absolutely love human company and are always ready to greet people, including strangers. Both enjoy plenty of fuss and will happily accept scratches and rubs on their bellies, ears and backs.

They are easy to be around and their current family are completely comfortable sharing their space and entering their shelter. Close physical examinations have rarely been necessary, so their tolerance for more involved handling is not yet known.

Experience with Other Animals and Children

Other Animals:
They have experience around chickens and have had nose to nose interaction with a dog through a fence.

Children:
They are used to visiting children who have stroked them through the fence, and older children have given them belly rubs under supervision. Any interaction with children should always be supervised.

Health and Care

Both girls are generally in good health, with some mild dry and flaky skin. Poppy has some impairment to her eyesight and hearing, but remains active and this does not currently appear to interfere with her day to day life. She has previously been treated by a vet for a cracked nail, which healed following treatment.

Reason for Rehoming

Poppy and Banjo are very reluctantly being rehomed due to their current carer’s health issues.

Ideal Home

Poppy and Banjo would suit a home with plenty of outdoor space where they can continue to root and explore. They are enthusiastic rooters, so enough land to allow areas to be rested and rotated would be ideal.

Both girls enjoy plenty of human interaction and would appreciate a home where there is time for regular attention, affection and engagement. As a closely bonded pair, Poppy and Banjo must remain together.

Please Note

Poppy and Banjo have not had an in-person assessment by our team. While they have been reviewed and considered suitable for rehoming, all the information provided comes from their current home.

We’d ideally like to find a new home close to their current location, but we’re open to applications from further afield if you can offer them the right home.

Apply to Adopt Poppy and Banjo

After receiving your completed form, we’ll arrange a phone call to discuss your application and request photos and videos of your setup.

About You

Your Name
Address
If yes, please provide their name
If the role will be shared, who else will be responsible for the pigs’ care and well being?
Not having previous experience will not disqualify you from consideration for adoption, but it may affect which pig/s are best suited to you
If your application is successful, will you be able and willing to collect the pigs and transport them to their new home?
Not being able to collect the pigs is not a disqualifying factor. This information simply helps us assess suitable options for you

Your Land and Set-Up

You don’t need to be fully set up before applying. We’re happy to help you get pig-ready, so if you’re still preparing, please answer the following questions based on your plans
If you rent the land the pigs will live on, do you have your landlord’s permission to keep pigs there for their full lifetime?
Do you have a CPH number?
Do you have a herd mark?
A CPH Number and herd mark are required by law to keep pigs, we cannot complete an adoption without them
Are you happy for us to conduct a further home check?
This will usually be done via phone call, photos and videos

Other Pigs/Animals

I confirm that no animals under my care are used for the purpose of breeding, sale or slaughter
If you are unable to answer yes to this question, we cannot proceed with your application
Do you currently have any other pigs?
Do you intend to integrate any new pigs you adopt with your current pigs?
Ideal set up includes separate fenced off and secure areas (ideally next door to each other). Further advice on introductions and set up can be found on our website
I have read and agree to the Terms of Sevice
