About Mabel and George

This highly photogenic brother and sister duo are looking for a home to live out their twilight years. A pair of pedigree kunes, they are very friendly and chatty. They love to graze but have never really taken to wallowing!

As the slightly larger and bossier of the two, Mabel is most definitely in charge. Her brother George is still always her best pal and they snuggle up together every night.

They do require separate feeding stations as cheeky Mabel eats a lot faster than her brother and isn’t above swiping some of his veggies once hers are all gone. She can also be a little feisty with strangers in her pen, so someone confident with reading piggy body language would definitely be an advantage. She is perfectly happy to have you in her space once she gets to know you.

Generally they are very healthy for their age, the only issues relate to Mabel’s hooves and George’s tusks, both of which are slightly overgrown. In order to trim them down they require sedation, which isn’t ideal to regularly administer to any pigs but especially older ones. Neither seem to be too bothered by these but they will need to be closely monitored for any signs of discomfort.

They will also need daily access to a decent-sized hard-standing area. This will help to keep their trotters trim and also be better for their aging joints as they may become arthritic.

We’d love to find a new home close to their current location, but if you can offer them the perfect home further away we would still love to hear from you!

Their old home would love updates on them if their new home is willing.

Apply to Adopt

Please note, as well as a completed adoption application form we require several good quality photographs of the areas in which the pigs would live. You should include photographs that give a good idea of the size of the space available, the type and features of the terrain, all shelters that would be accessible by the pigs and the type of containment you will be using (stock-proof fencing, electrical fencing, walls etc.)

You can submit these photographs by emailing us directly at

A member of our team will be in touch once we have received your completed form and photographs.

Your Name
If your current address is different to the address at which the pigs will be living please provide both
This will help us match you to the best pig/s for your life and family
e.g. good with children, experience around other species, particular size/breed, specific age. Anything you can tell us that will help match you with the best pig/s for you
Not having previous experience will not disqualify you from consideration for adoption, but it may affect which pig/s are best suited to you
If you rent the land the pig/s will live on, do you have permission from your landlord to keep pigs on it for the rest of the pig's life?
Do you already have a CPH number?
Do you already have a herd mark?
A CPH Number and herd mark are required by law to keep pigs, we cannot complete an adoption without them
e.g. fields, hard standing areas, trees, wallow, shrubbery etc.
e.g. stock-proof fencing, electric fencing, hedging, dry stone wall etc.
Are you aware of the medical, feeding, husbandry and grooming costs associated with caring for a pig?
If yes, please provide their name
Do you already have any other pigs?
You may have male and female pigs with only the males (or some of them) neutered
e.g. breed, age, size, temperament
Ideal set up includes separate fenced off and secure areas (ideally next door to each other). Further advice on introductions and set up can be found on our website
If you are applying to adopt a single pig and do not have any other pigs, are you able and willing to adopt a second companion pig from us?
Are you able the transport the pig/s to your home?
Are you happy for us to conduct a home check to ensure that it is an appropriate environment for a pet pig?
Are you willing to provide updates to the old home of any pig/s you adopt?
